Eligibility Criteria
To apply for this scholarship, several conditions must be met in addition to the general requirements of each program. These criteria ensure that candidates match the profile sought by the BMW Group and ESMT Berlin.
- Hold an undergraduate degree or currently be employed in mathematics and/or technology (IT, automation, digitalization)
- Be a citizen or permanent resident of one of the following countries: Germany, India, Portugal, Romania, Brazil, China, the United States, or South Africa
- Individuals with recognized refugee status in Germany may also apply
- For MSc and Full-time MBA candidates, be 30 years old or younger as of September 1, 2026
It is important to note that residing in Germany is not a requirement to apply. However, candidates must be citizens or permanent residents of one of the eligible countries listed above.
Awards and Funding
A total of eight scholarships are available this year, distributed across the three programs offered by ESMT Berlin. This funding opportunity for startups and young talents represents substantial financial support.
- Full-time MBA: two scholarships of €45,000 (90% of tuition fees), reducing costs to €5,000
- Master’s (MSc): two scholarships of €17,500 (50% of tuition fees), reducing costs to €18,500
- Global Online MBA: four scholarships covering the full tuition fees
In addition, all recipients benefit from a significant extra advantage. They have the opportunity to meet BMW Group experts and build a valuable professional network for their careers.
Nevertheless, certain costs remain the responsibility of the student. For the Global Online MBA, travel expenses for in-person modules, such as the Berlin Experience Week, are not covered. Similarly, additional costs such as the individual career coaching program are not included.
Application Deadline
BMW Group Change Maker Fellowship scholarships are awarded on a rolling basis for the Full-time MBA and Master’s programs. It is therefore strongly recommended to apply as early as possible, as the number of scholarships is limited.
For the Global Online MBA, candidates interested in this scholarship must submit their complete application before June 30. Remaining applications are then accepted until September 15, subject to scholarship availability.
Furthermore, candidates who need a visa to study at ESMT are encouraged to apply early, as visa procedures can take several months.
